This was my latest book read and I devoured it. Could not get enough of leaving the pages although the theme is one of which I thought I have tired. But how could I tire of a topic that influenced our lives so dramatically and tragically. How can I be so bourgouis to say that I don’t want to read more struggle books? Chris van Wyk lived a life enforced by Apartheid and is only one of many who experienced the results first hand. Shirley, Goodness & Mercy is an honest and often tongue in cheeck depiction of urban separation. I found myself laughing and smiling while reading the short experiences of Chris van Wyk’s life. I can’t wait to read his latest book Eggs to lay and Chickens to hatch.
