Chamblanchien is the town after Premeaux-Prissey and we had to make a quick turn at the entrance to see what this is about. Paul and his family has 2 small plots of Clos Vougeot – 1 plot has 13.5 rows and the other 11 rows.  This is very close to the Vougeot castle which means that this is prime property of which the wine would have gone to the pope a LONG time ago.  Conrad asked how Paul knew which his 13.5 or 11 rows were on this 50.6ha property.  Paul answered “You know! It is like knowing your house.  The effect of different pruning techniques might be an indicator”.  Paul’s brother is in New Zealand making Pinots and his sister be interested in a South African harvest.
