Saturday in Hermanus is Market Day and we have a choice of the Country Market in town or Hermanuspietersfontein’s institutional food & wine market.  The Country Market has it quota of wines served by the glass or the bottle and Newton Johnson, Creation and Raka are always there to pour their good liquids.

At Hermanuspietersfontein it is not unusual to see visitors raise a glass of rose or bubbly at 10 in the morning.  Fortunately there is plenty of home-made local delicacies available to enhance the experience. At the market I have my first good coffee for the weekend, meet up with old and new friends and carefully select a special breakfast.  It’s time to go to market!
