Higher Ground

Its winter but the sun is out and the whales are back in Hermanus.  Its time to put on walking shoes, get the pooch in the car and head for the outdoors.  Bouchard Finlayson, Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, offers 3 walking routes guided or self-guided. We reported to the office where we receive a map and then opted for the green route that takes an hour.  The green routes starts amongst the vineyards, an easy walk that becomes more challenging as you leave the vineyards and enter fynbos territory. We walked to the top of Galpin Peak overlooking the Hemel-en-Aarde Vineyards with views towards the ocean. This was great exercise that ended even better with a taste of the real McCoy – Galpin Peak Pinot noir 2012 – in the tasting room.
