What I did on Voting Day in Hermanus

A day off.  In Hermanus.  To cast my vote only took ten minutes.  The rest of the day was just for me.  Being me a late lie in was mandatory and the rain provided an additional excuse.  By nine I had my finger inked and my crosses made and it was time to optimise on me-time.

A step out on the scenic Hermanus Cliff Path provided an opportunity for fresh air, exercise and also some photographs of dassies (rock hyrax) who were having fun in the sun. This was followed by a stop in Fernkloof Nature Reserve where the rain has caused a beautiful waterfall close to the Visitor Centre to flow in full stream.  Another photo opportunity not missed.  After covering the outdoor exploration scene I needed retail therapy and fortunately Amulet was opened till late offering the perfect range of birthday gifts.  The Eatery baked special voting cupcakes and who can resist? An americano and cupcake recharged energy levels for a late afternoon catch-up with an old friend.  Finally an hour’s online participation in #TravelChatSA talking about fynbos and South Africa‘s reserves and parks made for a great day voting. A great #VotingDay indeed.  All that’s left to do is to wait for the election results and hope my party takes poll position.
