Bouchard Finlayson Kaaimansgat Chardonnay

With exactly two weeks to go till the De Wetshof Chardonnay Celebration and three weeks to go till the first Hemel-en-Aarde Chardonnay Celebration we need to start talking Chardonnay.

One of the newly released Chardonnays that I recently tasted was the Bouchard Finlayson 2015 Kaaimansgat Chardonnay.  The grapes are from Elandskloof outside Villiersdorp.  The Roux family’s farm.  The relationship between the Rouxs and Bouchard Finlayson stretches over many vintages. Almost twenty-four vintages.   A point to note is that these vineyards are not irrigated and they produce small berries adding additional flavours which integrates to a complete a superb wine.  I caught up with the Bouchard Finlayson winemakers Peter Finlayson and Chris Albrecht and tasted this oak aged wine with them.  A round of nodded approval from all for the latest release of Bouchard Finlayson Kaaimansgat Chardonnay.
