Bridges have a great significance. It links, reaches out and takes you from one space to another. Pretty much our mission on this Lufthansa Roadshow.
Our fourth city on this Western Cape promotion trip was Hamburg. A city with more than 2,300 bridges. This trumps all the bridges in Venice and Amsterdam combined. Hamburg also have travel agents that have travelled to South Africa. Travel agents who reports that they don't have to sell South Africa. Travellers ask for it. We heard that after tasting rooibos tea in South Africa German tourists now buy it in local supermarkets. There were enquiries about equestrian trips, camper van packages and the Garden Route. One agent shared her recent two-week holiday itinerary with us. A journey from Cape Town to Hermanus then on to Oudtshoorn, Knysna and Port Elizabeth. On their return they stopped for a few days in Stellenbosch. She added "because of the incredible variety experienced a two week holiday felt like four weeks". This is exactly what one likes to hear when you are marketing a destination. Now we have to work on those first timers who has not yet taken a direct flight from Münich or Frankfurt to Cape Town.
