The past weekend’s Cape Wine Auction at Rustenberg Estate provided an opportunity to visit a Stellenbosch winery where I have not been before. Surprise Surprise!
Rustenberg was founded in 1682. This has surely given the owners enough time to set the foundation for a well established garden or two. Their Schoongezicht Garden is open to the public from Monday to Sunday while the Rustenberg Garden is a private garden that is opened once a year during an Open Day.
Another first for me was a walk through the medieval labyrinth in the Schoongezicht Garden. Time to contemplate and reminisce. I would highly recommend a visit to this Stellenbosch wine estate where there is great wine and beautiful gardens to enjoy.
