Carolyn Martin of Creation Wines in Hermanus stays on the cutting edge of food and wine trends and is always ready to introduce something new. For a Saturday evening event she teamed up with kindred spirit Tiina Treumann, owner of SALT in Tallinn, Estonia. Tiina is a world traveller committed to taking the best parts of each trip back to her small 46m2 restaurant in Tallinn.
So what does Carolyn do? She invited Tina and her chef Marko Kalyend to come and cook at Creation. The extraordinary affair was called Reaching for the Stars and delighted all present! Five flights of 2 dishes each followed by dessert paired perfectly with Creation’s wine. The highlight for me was the grilled octopus as well as the Saigon style ostrich tartare with pickled shimeji mushrooms. Definitely an evening to remember!
