The February issue of GetAway magazine has an article on taking a road trip through the Cape Winelands. It starts in Cape Town and travels through Durbanville, Franschhoek, Elgin and Hermanus to Caledon, Villiersdorp, Robertson, Worcester, Rawsonville and Wellington. The Overberg is well represented with mentions of Oak Valley, Newton Johnson and Die Plaaskombuis. We are proud of our Hemel-en-Aarde wineries and especially Newton Johnson’s reputation for consistently producing five-star Pinot Noir. Be prepared to be bedazzled by more than their wine. The views stretching to the Atlantic are spectacular. As is chef Rickey Broekhoven’s menu.
Down the road from Newton Johnson is Die Plaaskombuis which is well suited for families as it has a jungle gym and a small nursery to complement the restaurant. The vintage lucky packets are worth the mention.
We would love to keep tourists road tripping through the Overberg only. We do realise that by linking to other routes our visitors will be coming back for more sooner than later.
Did you ever try the Jean Daneel (JD) wines from Napier? 😉

I have tried the wines and met the people. Saw that this bistro was open again. That’s one thing I have not tried in Napier.
