Every day is pretty much a wine day in my books. Then there are those really special wine days specifically dedicated to one varietal only. Today, 4 May, is International Sauvignon Blanc Day and on the Cape Whale Coast the weather certainly played along to make sure that it was the best Sauvignon Blanc Day it could possibly be. Temperatures hit 25’C which is pretty good for a South African winter’s day. It’s also a Friday. Such a great coincidence? What goes better with weekend than wine?
I headed out to The Marine in Hermanus for a glass of local Sauvie. There was a choice of Hemel-en-Aarde Southern Right and Elim Strandveld Pofadderbos Sauvignon Blanc. I went for the Strandveld as I’m well acquainted with the Southern Right. Pofadderbos represented the Elim are well and does the Sauvignon Blanc varietal proud. A good choice to celebrate International Sauvignon Blanc Day.
By the way it is also Firefighters Day and Star Wars Day. #justsaying
