Shongweni Farmers & Craft Market

The Shongweni Farmers & Craft Market was started in 1998 with 12 stalls.  Today there are more than 150 stalls and judging by the number of cars arriving by the minute on the day of my attendance this is one popular gathering place.  Twenty years of marketing is quite a record and certainly built a following.  I took the 40 minute drive from Durban beach front and covered most of the route on the N3 to join the forces on a site bordered by a nature reserve.

Shongweni Market has everything weekenders want from a morning fair – good coffee, pancakes, beer, wine, crafts… and you can bring your dog too.  Pooches are welcome if poops are bagged. They even have a ATM on site as well as plants to keep you busy for the rest of the weekend – doing more shopping or gardening.

The Shongweni Farmers & Craft Market comes highly recommended and is just the way to get the weekend started.
