In Vino Veritas – Fermentation Society Anniversary

Its been a year since the ladies of Vermont, Hermanus, gave their regular gatherings a name and yesterday the Fermentation Society celebrated its first birthday. The food and the wine was the best! And then there are the colourful stories of a certain Lady Jervis.

With much detail to the wine selection and food favourites it was just epic! The recipes came from the Blue Train’s menu, Evita Bezuidenhout and Boschendal. the wine came from different South African vineyards and included the following:

  • Creation Elation Cap Classique
  • Thelema Sutherland Rhine Riesling 2008

  • Bon Courage The Gooseberry Bush 2018

  • Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon 1994

  • Raka Quinary 2004

  • Slanghoek Nobel Late Harvest 2000

  • Fermentation Society wines for anniversary dinner. The Rosé was a gift for the host.

    Starter prawn cocktail as served on the Blue Train from 1945 to 1955.
    Bobotie Bolletjies as an amuse bouche from Boschendal’s historic recipe book.
