On a cool Saturday morning in April I joined my sisters and hiking buddies in Hout Bay. We hiked up Chapman’s Peak for the best views one could possibly have of this stretch of South African coastline. Not too easy, not too difficult; not too far, not too close; it was absolutely just right. A 13,5km round trip from the parking area on Chapman’s Peak Drive on the Hout Bay side of the tollgate to the tip of Peninsula. We went up and up and then onto a flat stretch that took us through the saddle and onwards to summit the main Chapman’s Peak. Photos at the beacon with 360 degree views that reached as far as Hangklip were plenty reward for the climbing we did.
After 6 hours of hiking in nature I can now tick off Chappies from my hiking list.
