Its 21 May. Its International Chardonnay Day. A day to celebrate. Especially during deprivation enforced lockdown but even more so when cool climate Hemel-en-Aarde is your playground. Currently a bit low on fermented grape juice, I have 2 bottles of golden great Chardonnay on ice. Ataraxia and Creation. Both had its content stored in French barrels for a few months to bring out the best flavours and aromas.
After 8 weeks of isolated living I don’t see how the best of me is going to step into the world. I deserve every sip which I shall savour in Riedel’s varietal specific Montrachet glasses. Chardonnay is my favourite white wine. Not least because it is a component of another favourite – Méthode Cap Classique. I love Chardonnay, because its complex, bold and conquers my palate like a squadron going to battle. Every mouthful is a little taste of luxury.
Cheers to chic Chardonnay!

Cheers! I vicariously enjoyed every sip with you
