With so many hikes to choose from in and around Hermanus you only have to put on your hiking boots, pack a bottle of water and hit the tracks. Fernkloof Nature Reserve alone has 60kms of interlinked paths to keep you hiking for days.

I picked a route from Voëlklip’s side and walked towards the popular Three Dams via the lookout beacon. A 8km round trip with gradual elevation towards a spot where views stretched from the Klein River to Grotto Beach and across the cliff path where the neatly blocked houses below Fernkloof is visible. The combination of fresh air and stretched legs are just the way to get any day going.
