Never before has breakfast, lunch and dinner been more important than during the national lockdown imposed by Covid-19 regulations. It is with great enthusiasm that I pick my meals and match fine Overberg wines to complement the experience. Dining alone got monotonous and the idea of breaking bread with friends has become wishful thinking.

Just when I thought the idea of another meal eaten in the solitary confinement of my comfortable home intolerable, Creation Wines presented an alternative served all the way from their cellar in Hemel-en-Aarde. A tasting kit with six wines of my choice delivered to my doorstep. All I had to do was set up a zoom appointment with sommelier Phillip Marais for a private wine tutored session at my convenience. The luxury was not confined to wine tasting alone. A menu of delectables complemented the wines and I feast on bouillabaisse with crayfish and locally farmed abalone served with crispy olive ciabatta. This private food and wine pairing went down a treat and warmed up a lockdown winters’ evening. There’s no missing eating out when eating in is this good.
