On Sundays I always have to urge to head for the mountains. Almost always that is. There are days that I just wish to stay in with a coffee and move over to the beach armed with a book.
On the fourth Sunday in January I got up early to do a virtual walk as a practice for the 2021 Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse Ladies charity walk. Although the 100km walk has been postponed I still need to up my fitness and changed the Vermont Cliff Path for some elevation to diminish the spread of Christmas feasting. With a fellow Lighthouse walker we took the R45 through Kleinmond and parked at the bottom of the Kogelberg Mountains close to the Palmiet River to trek up to Spooknek. All the routes are well marked and there are quite a variety of options. Most do involve a bit of climbing, a few demands a lot.
With the hike done my reward was an ice cream in Kleinmond’s Harbour and a quick review of the shelves at the Potter’s Gallery of Corinne de Haas.
